UK: Thomson takes over as SVP at GSK
As of August 01, Phil Thomson is Senior Vice President, Global Communications at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), succeeding Duncan Learmouth who has been appointed to lead a newly created Developing Countries and Market Access operating unit.
In his new role Thomson is responsible for Media Relations, Investor Relations, Corporate Responsibility, Global Community Partnerships, Internal Communications and Product Communications.
His previous role was Vice President, Global Media, responsible for overseeing the company's engagement with the media. He joined the company as a commercial trainee in 1996, moving from pharmaceutical brand marketing to product communications. In 1999 he became a Director of Media Relations and, in 2001, took up the position of Director, Investor Relations for GSK. In 2004, he returned to Corporate Media Relations as VP.
