EPP-ED Group Vice-Chairman Othmar Karas MEP (A) and Elmar Brok MEP (D), Coordinator of the European People's Party (EPP) for Foreign Affairs, will give a press conference on their visit to Georgia on Wednesday, 20 August 2008, at 13.00 hrs, in the press briefing room of the European Parliament (PHS 0A50) On behalf of the EPP-ED Group, Othmar Karas MEP and Elmar Brok MEP undertook a visit to Georgia in order to evaluate the current situation and discuss possibilities for further support for Georgia. In Tiblissi they met with Michail Saakaschwili, President of Georgia, as well as with other government representatives, they also went to the city of Gori in order to check on the agreed Russian troop withdrawal. MEPs Karas and Brok will report back to the extraordinary meeting of the European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee taking place on Wednesday 20 August at 15.00 hrs.
